The NWT Human Rights Commission is an independent agency that administers the NWT Human Rights Act. The commission deals with complaints of discrimination. Yellowknife Victim Services Program

Provides free services to residents of Yellowknife and surrounding communities who have been victimized by crime or tragedy. The program provides immediate and follow-up support to victims in the form of emotional support, referrals to community agencies, assistance with Victim Impact Statements, information about the legal system, and liaison with the police, hospital, court and other community services. Victim Services staff and volunteers provide 24 hour crisis support to victims to lessen the immediate effects of crime.
